Scholarships


Scholarships are available to Rainbow Girls in Nevada for scholastic excellence, financial need, and Rainbow Service. 

Nevada Grand Assembly Scholarships are awarded yearly at Grand Assembly. Girls who are interested must submit an application to their local assemblies. After review they will be sent to the Scholarship Committee.

Our Youth Scholarships include:

  • Mimi Ruff Memorial Scholarship is funded in memory and honor of Mrs. Ruff who served Nevada Rainbow for many years. 
  • June Davidek Memorial Scholarship-Mrs. Davidek was a MA and Grand Deputy for Sparks #3 and a vital part of that assembly during her tenure.
  • Margaret Kofoed Memorial Scholarship- is a continuing scholarship program in memory of our Past Supreme Worthy Advisor- it is awarded to a girl who will take her Majority at Grand Assembly.
  • Rebecca Koscik Memorial Scholarship- Rebecca was the daughter of Grand Deputy Timaree Koscik who passed away just months after she joined Tonopah Assembly #15.
  • Kaylene Meyer Strump Memorial Scholarship- Kaylene was Grand Faith, and the daughter of Grand Deputy Bill Meyer, Fernley Assembly #26. The scholarship is funded in her memory by her parents who continue to support Nevada Rainbow.
  • Tickled Pink- Tickled Pink is funded by Past Grand Deputy Terry Tholl to support girls' educational endeavors.  Mrs. Tholl is a firm believer in continuing education, exploring dreams, and having fun.... she is Tickled Pink about life, Rainbow, and helping girls succeed.
  • Craig Harms Memorial- Craig was the father of PGWA Vanessa Harms Nelson and husband of Sylvia Harms, Director of Grand Representatives.  sCHOLARSHIPS 2008

Application Process

Procedure

Applications for scholarships must be submitted to the member's Advisory Board by May 1. The Advisory Board will review and forward all completed forms to the Chairman of the Scholarship Committee, with their recommendation, by June 1.

Eligibility

  1. Rainbow Members in good standing who are either graduating from high school this year or who are enrolled at an accredited institution. (Credits earned at a community college or other learning institution must be acceptable at an accredited college. Enrollment in a community or junior college is acceptable; however trade school enrollment does not qualify.)
  2. Majority Members for scholarships available specifically to them; i.e. the June Davidek Memorial Scholarship; the Margaret Kofoed Memorial Scholarship, the Supreme Inspector’s Scholarship. Blue Arrow

Application Package must include three sets of the following information:

Three written recommendations:

  • one from a high school official (teacher, counselor, coach);
  • one from a person within the community familiar with the applicant (Pastor, community leader);
  • and one from the Advisory Board.

When a Majority Member is unable to obtain a teacher’s recommendation or that of her advisory board because of the time since her majority, the letter from a person in her community is sufficient.

  • The applicant must indicate her need for financial assistance at this time.
  • The applicant's most recent transcript (high school or college)
  • The applicant's statement noting her intention to carry at least twelve (12) credits during each of the next two semesters.

Initial distribution of funds:

One-half (½) of the total award will be issued upon receipt by the Supreme Inspector of a paid registration notice for the first semester.

To maintain eligibility for the second semester, each recipient must provide the Supreme Inspector withA transcript reflecting at least a 2.75 GPA for the semesterPaid registration receipt for the second semester reflecting enrollment in at least twelve (12) credits during the second semester.Affirmation she has remained unmarried, if an active Rainbow Member. Affirmation of her continued commitment to personal conduct which is significant of a Rainbow member.
